Slow Tripping

Tom and I have been very slowing winding our way up along the coast towards Coolangatta. Which is where we are now. It's a funny place. And Tom is a bit depressed because all the people are much cooler and sexier than us. I think I'm used to people being cooler than me so I don't mind, but Tom is usually the coolest koala in the house, so it's a bit tough for him.

Last night we stayed in a tacko-posho placed called the Sanctuary Resort Motor Inn. It had a pool, spa, sauna and even putt putt golf. Tom and I were overwhelmed with the options, and didn't even have time to try them all out. Although we got in two good swims.

When we arrived they'd lost the single bed in our room. They thought it might have moved to the room next door, so we went looking there. But it was no where to be found. I guess it's just like stealing soap and towels. Everyone does it, and taking the bed is just the next logical step. So they offered us a wheelie bed, which looked very comfortable indeed. But actually wasn't at all.

I think they called themselves a sanctuary because they were protecting local peacocks from the notorious Coffs Harbour peacock poachers. They even had a golf buggy, which I assume was their ranger vehicle. The residents were predictably odd. However the staff were remarkably normal, especially since presumably they spent their nights hunting peacock poachers in a golf buggy, and their days trying to track down stolen beds. One of them used to live in Castle Hill. He must have been a poaching expert or something, who was brought up specially.

Byron Bay was miserable, but had cheap internet. Oh, and nice felafel also. Macksville was good.

This internet cafe is funny. One of the rules is Maximum two site is allowed each and unlawful site is not permitted.
