Not at all. I had to fast forward parts of the last half hour because I couldn’t take it any more. And the only other film I’ve ever done that for is Romero.
That movie was like a bullet train to hell. Be glad you fastforwarded – I was contemplating suicide by the time I’d gotten the full dose of the ending.
It’s not even a particularly revealing commentary. A lot of elements of his life could have been better if he was more willing to change or experiment.
Nicholson should have moved to the middle of nowhere and bought a gas station, like he did in The Pledge. Maybe that’s a good solution for improving the overall quality of bad films from the last twenty years. Combine great elements of all of the ones starring the same actor – every movie has at least one good scene, after all. The results will make little sense, but be a huge adventure in non-linear filmmaking. Every movie will watch like Lost Highway….
That’s a recomendation then?
