I think that reason I'm so willing to believe the police is that I assume that this kind of thing happens all the time amongst blokey men. But doesn't get reported. Or when it does, the police can't obtain a conviction. Especially now the penalty is life imprisonment, getting people to confess would be very hard. So I'm probably not very impartial. I just sent an email to the Mitsubishi (who sponsor the Bulldogs) PR people, telling them I wouldn't buy anything from Mitsubishi until the players' names were cleared. I wouldn't normally do something like that until I'd seen the evidence, but I trust the police enough in this situation, and wouldn't be that concerned if the Bulldogs weren't able to buy new uniforms this year.
The players aren't victims in any sense of the word. They can defend themselves. Their club will defend them. Even if they get kicked off the team, they'll probably still lead comfortable, wealthy lives. For that reason, I guess I'm asking for less proof than I normally would before jumping to presumptuous conclusions.
what were you planning on buying from mitsubishi?

Nothing in particular. But I’ll make sure that anything I do buy doesn’t have their name on it. Most of the things I buy I don’t plan on buying. There’s still a big difference between “might conceivably buy” and “definitely won’t buy”. I’ve probably bought things from Mitsubishi in the past. My car was built by Mitsubishi.
