I think the reason people think that all those things Sal described are assumed to be flirting is because people usually are flirting, and then pretend that they aren't. So that people who do it just for the fun of it are unfortunately under suspicion. It's the fault of flirters in denial, who ruin play for everyone else.

Although I think one good trick is to make sure you kick (or whatever) your own sex at least as much the opposite sex. People are probably less likely to be suspicious then. Tom and I were talking about that today actually. I reckon that the only way you can give nice presents to someone who have a crush on without being dodgy, is to have already been giving everyone else nice presents before hand. That way, the person you like will feel special, without feeling pressured by you. And, more importantly, everyone gets more presents. Everyone will think you are completely weird, but I figure that's a small price to pay. Especially since folk already think that in my case.
