No one is doing anything about Sudan. And so many people are being killed. They've just passed a resolution through the UN Security Council, but at the last minute had to change "sanctions" to "threat of sanctions". They're not allowed to send in peacekeepers either. It's awful. The Economist has been raving about it for months, and have written so many articles, but no one else seems to care.
Sudan expresses its deep regret that the issue of Darfur should reach, with this speed, the Security Council, and that it be snatched from its regional context.
Sudanese Information Minister Al-Zahawi Ibrahim Malik
we met members of the sudanese olympic football team on the way to athens. i also met a young man in athens, adam, who had fled from sudan 10 years ago, as had his family. they’re all in australia, but he can’t get in yet, so he’s living in Greece. he walked his way to freedom. he has horrific scars, and i’m sure more than physically. i’m hoping australia will let him in to be with his family. he was so gentle and wanting to connect with people.
