I think it is disgusting and the people who do it are barbarians. But I’m not sure if it is wrong. My dog eats it, because he doesn’t know any better. I doubt the people who practice as he does, know little better themselves.
I don’t know what wrong really means. It’s an internally inconsistent sort of idea, unless you believe in God or something. But if anything is wrong then I think that eating animals is. I’m inclined to look at wrongness as short-hand for “really nasty”, which doesn’t claim any sort of authority. So I suppose it follows that I don’t use “wrong” in any sort of authoritative sense.
I still don’t know how I feel about my friends eating meat. I’ve kind of forgotten about it. I used to feel like not talking to anyone that ate meat, but I couldn’t work out if that would make things any better. People are more likely to feel validated if you eat with them, but they probably won’t ever change if you don’t.
