I'm starting to develop a slight suspicision that everyone who studies applied economics does it because they're scared of writing about politics. And everyone who studies political economy does it because they're scared of mathematics. Everybody you ever read has a glaring deficiency in politics or maths.
Myself, I like to think that I'm equally deficient in both. Every now and then one seems to be particularly bad, and I wonder if I'll end up becoming biased. But inevitably, before very long, something will happen to further lower my expectations about the other, bringing everything into balance once again.
