Amnesty Meeting

We just had the funniest Amnesty meeting. Not that I've ever been to an Amnesty meeting, but I think it's safe to assume that as Amnesty meetings would go that this one was pretty funny. We have a really enthusiastic president, who tells people outright that they are wrong, and won't tolerate any hint of disinterest. It's nice actually. We voted in lots of executive positions, just because they are on the form. We spent 30 minutes voting people in positions, which doesn't give us anything except make it harder to change them when we need to. Instead of just allocating jobs, now we have to have an AGM whenever anyone stops doing their job for whatever reason. They refused to appoint the IT Coordinator guy because he wasn't there, and the IT Coordinator has to be an executive position. It was just how you'd expect university club meetings to be. Five minute tangents between two people about photocopying.

But we're going to have the biggest party. There are going to pikelets and fairy bread and heaps of cordial. The Amnesty Club is going to be the centre of attention. It's going to be awesome.

I'm glad I've joined. The people are cool.

  1. Our baseball club here at JCU is the complete opposite! Although we only have about 20 members so we only need about 3 executives. I’m currently the secretary, but I wish we could make cool titles like IT Technician etc… For a bball club, Hah!

  2. We only need four executives officially. Which is already too many for a club our size. But they can have more – there’s extra space on the form. And because they can, they are.

I suspect the president is going to drive everyone nuts before too long anyway. So we’ll have to call another AGM, and do this all over again.
