Break of Dawn

I'd never heard of Break of Dawn, but it had a sniper rifle on the front so I hired it. And it was French, and the French usually do fun things with guns. They did again with this film too. Except that for some stupid bloody reason they sabotaged the film by making all these great French actors act an English script but giving it American dubbing. The dubbing was bad, and the voice-acting was truly appalling. The voice actors turned a serious, quality film into this painful jockish comedy. So frustrating. It was humiliating watching the two main characters, who are both good - I've seen them in other things. I felt really sorry for them both, because they did a great job of it. The whole thing is set in Paris (and Romania) and they are French actors and French characters, but they have ridiculous American accents. It made no sense. Both of the actors spoke English, so even if subtitles don't cut it what is wrong with English in French accents. They took a film that did everything else right and turned it into tripe with one decision. It was even a French director who must hate himself for what he has done.

Americans are idiots. And French people are idiots for indulging American idiots.
