I am at home sick with something, so after I woke up this afternoon I watched Fist of Legend. It was freaking awesome. It had the best fights and what felt like hours of just watching Jet Li beat people up. It even had some nice moral themes thrown in. It was very accepting of sex workers and even welcomed one into a tightly knit martial arts school. It did a pretty good job of preaching peace and acceptance for a martial arts film. And I thought it balanced the conflict between main character's love life and family/professional life pretty well. There weren't any easy answers.

It was the sort of film that reminds me how crap most American film is and gives me a bit of a fondness for the Chinese. They seem to have a lot of pride without very much eagerness to defend it by going to war.
